A feature that I had wanted to add for a long time, is glyph coloring. I have now updated the system for clicking on glyphs to allow for different colors. The display pages now have a “color chooser” in the top right corner. Clicking on this will let you cycle through a set of colors (red, purple, green, blue, and black). The chosen color will then be the clickable color. This makes it possible to hilite various glyphs patterns, similar to the examples on the old rongorongo.org.
For example the “genealogy” on Item G:
At the current time it is not possible to save such colorings. But perhaps in the future.
This is a very usefull feature! Unfortunatly it only works with Internet Explorer and Chrome, I cannot color the glyphs when I use Firerfox… But it is not a big problem, I only have to use IE when I want to use the coloring system.
Well, I’m glad to hear that it works in IE. I generally try to keep the technical sophistication of this website to a minimum. I try to use standards-compliant tools, and I don’t spend time worrying about backward compatibility. I work on a mac, and I test with Safari, Chrome, and Opera.
I’ll look into the problem with Firefox and see if I can do anything about it, but I can’t make any promises.
This has now been fixed. Clicking in Firefox should work.
