Prefixes

V   denotes a variant (Variante) 451 vs V451
D   denotes a derivation (Derivat). 9 vs D9
 

What difference Barthel meant between "Variante" and "Derivat" is unclear, and the extended system elaborated by the C.E.I.P.P. makes only use of V.


Suffixes

Letters   a  to   d   are used as indices when several signs share the same code number, e.g. the three signs under code number 168 168a 168b 168c
f   denotes the addition of feathers (Federn) or barbs. 1f 90f 93f
Raised   o   is any "adornment" above an upper limb of an anthropomorphic or zoomorphic sign. 280o 387o 607o
s   is any "adornment" (Schmuckelement) dangling from the "elbow" of an anthropomorphic or zoomorphic sign. 201s 605s 605s
