RONGORONGO: Alphabetical Affixes

Prefixes
V denotes a variant (Variante)
D denotes a derivation (Derivat).
What difference Barthel meant between "Variante" and "Derivat" is unclear, and the extended system elaborated by the C.E.I.P.P. makes only use of V.
Suffixes
Letters a to d are used as indices when several signs share the same code number, e.g. the three signs under code number 168
f denotes the addition of feathers (Federn) or barbs.
Raised o is any "adornment" above an upper limb of an anthropomorphic or zoomorphic sign.
s is any "adornment" (Schmuckelement) dangling from the "elbow" of an anthropomorphic or zoomorphic sign.
x denotes an upside-down sign
y denotes a mirror image.
h (hochgestellt) is suffixed to superscripted signs.
t (Tiefstellung) is suffixed to subscripted signs
